Jean-Paul Mondon

Jean-Paul is a Senior Manager specialized in VAT and also part of the PwC tax technology team in Belgium. Jean-Paul holds a master degree in Business and Financial Economics and a master in Tax.  

He has got a lot of experience in VAT  with a focus on the following areas:

• Systems reviews and implementation assistance in respect of proper VAT and Intrastat configuration (mainly SAP) for entities with several foreign VAT numbers: advice on the VAT and systems blueprint including project management, design of customized VAT determination logic, VAT testing and validation. His role is to ensure that all VAT matters are identified and addressed properly and timely during the whole implementation process, to identify opportunities and to liaise with the client’s ERP consultants in this respect
• Value chain transformation projects with focus on improving working capital  and optimizing VAT systems set-up and reporting;
• Tax function effectiveness projects: advising on organizing the ITX function, review and advice on internal control processes and procedures, integration of SSC in a sustainable VAT control environment, design of a tailored VAT control environment and VAT dashboard, defining tax maturity through PwC’s Tax Management Maturity Model, review and streamlining VAT reporting processes
• VAT audits and e-audits including assisting clients in remediation of issues identified
• Tax automation projects (AR & AP): analysis whether to improve ERP system versus use of tax engines, design of tax automation setting up  and testing
• E-invoicing and e-Archiving.

Jean-Paul has lead multiple international projects in the above areas and across a variety of industries mainly in chemicals, pharmaceuticals and consumer and industrial products.

He is a chartered tax consultant of the Belgian Institute of Chartered Accountants and Tax Consultants and has been from 2005 till 2009 member of the OECD Tax e-Audit Working Group that developed a.o. SAF-T 2.0. He is also speaker at conferences and seminars (both internally at PwC and externally).  

Jean-Paul speaks fluently Dutch, French and English and he has some basic knowledge of German.
