We're pleased to announce that in December, we’ll be hosting our annual ‘Planning the year end’ event. Like last year, we’ll hold two online sessions: one in French on Wednesday, 18 December and one in Dutch on Thursday, 19 December 2024.

2024, an election year and a year of future reforms. This year's seminar will primarily focus on the tax reform detailed in numerous measures in Bart De Wever's 'Supernote.' This reform aims to reduce the tax burden on workers, to valorise work regardless of the status, and to increase the contribution from holders of capital (both financial and real estate). For companies, the reform intends to improve their competitiveness by reducing certain costs and strengthening incentives for research and development, while making certain tax regimes more efficient and attractive (such as the RDT, consolidation, for example). The note also provides for changes in indirect taxes and includes measures for simplification and strengthening legal certainty.

In this seminar, we’ll consider how these measures will affect businesses, and what should be taken into account for year-end planning and your tax strategy, both from business and employer perspectives.

We'll tackle hot topics such as corporate income tax, VAT and customs, case law and rulings, and personal income tax issues relevant for employers. This session will set out all the relevant aspects of the new tax changes, so that you can be prepared and make the appropriate decisions.

Corporate income tax

The past financial year was a year of elections. 2025 promises to be a year of change and reform in Belgium and beyond. In addition, Global Minimum taxation rules have been introduced in Belgium (pillar 2), and the first compliance obligations will kick in during 2025.

In this session, you’ll get a comprehensive overview of the upcoming tax developments, including as regards tax procedure, that are expected to have an immediate impact on your organisation. But that’s not all — we’ll also present developments that we expect in the coming months and that should be on your radar.

VAT & Customs

We will focus on the latest developments in this field and closely follow the developments related to the federal government agreement. Current topics include VAT rates, VAT obligations to be complied with, the issue of permanent establishments, and the right to deduction. We will also address the latest VAT developments, including electronic invoicing, and closely follow the evolutions related to the federal government agreement.

Case law and rulings

As we do  every year, we’ll present a selection of recent milestone court decisions and interesting rulings on topics such as the general anti-abuse rule, carried interest, beneficial ownership and withholding tax, etc. We’ll focus on the practical impact of these decisions; both opportunities and attention points will be addressed.

Reward and Personal income tax

In the wake of the federal elections in June 2024, the Belgian government is in the midst of negotiating substantial tax reforms, particularly in the realm of personal tax. These potential changes (still to be confirmed) are poised to have a profound impact on both organisations and their employees, reshaping the tax landscape as we know it.

We will delve into the anticipated reforms, providing you with expert insights and practical guidance on navigating this new tax landscape. We will also cover key areas of change and explore their implications. Whether you are looking to understand the effects on employee rewards or seeking to align your organisational policies with the latest personal tax developments, this session is an essential opportunity for you.
