We started by performing an ‘as-is’ analysis of current processes, rules & regulations and systems to pinpoint the causes of these issues. We then organized workshops to clarify the business processes where project-related data was generated and understand how it was processed and shared throughout the organization.
Based on this research, we formalized new business processes, focusing on the origin of project information, responsibilities and ownership for the storage of this data, and mechanisms for sharing the information.
This led to the standardization of relevant information, following the principles of Master Data Management. We also updated PPM and ERP systems and created a dedicated data warehouse, which enabled us to create dashboards showcasing the centrally available data.
The implementation of solid data generation and management processes allowed for simplified reporting while guaranteeing all relevant information was always readily available. This made financial update cycles run much more smoothly and granted the company a comprehensive overview on planning and demand in terms of resource and budget.
This means that cumbersome manual data collection efforts were no longer needed to make the right decisions. Instead, decision-making was based on dashboard overviews.
