Attracting and retaining diverse talent to help your organization thrive

Diversity and inclusion

Diversity and inclusion

In recent years, diversity and inclusion (D&I) have become increasingly significant in the business world. This change is driven by evolving societal norms, extensive research demonstrating its benefits and increased legislative and regulatory emphasis throughout Europe.

However, despite good intentions and significant investments, organisations often fall short of their ambitions with generic D&I initiatives and training programmes. On the other hand, successful organisations treat D&I as they would treat any other strategic business objective: by fostering a genuinely diverse and inclusive workplace they unlock benefits such as enhanced talent attraction and retention, heightened employee engagement and a culture conducive to innovation. Neglecting to take meaningful D&I action poses a significant business risk as it can tarnish an organisation’s reputation and invite regulatory scrutiny.

What challenges do we frequently help our clients with?

Ensuring a fair and robust employee lifecycle, from application to departure
Defining a D&I North Star
Establishing D&I priorities and barriers within the organization
Identifying and mitigating policies and practices that foster systemic bias
Creating a roadmap towards an inclusive culture
Determining readiness for upcoming European regulations (e.g. CSRD and EU PTD)

How PwC can help

At PwC we understand that helping organisations to have a more inclusive and diverse culture represents numerous opportunities. Organisations can not only build a more sustainable and effective business but broaden their reach into the market, increase their engagement with broader stakeholder groups and help create offerings that are both innovative and unique.

Drawing from our extensive D&I experience, we have developed an approach that systematically addresses the key components of diversity and inclusion management.

Strategy

Initiatives tend to lose momentum if they’re not supported by a robust, well-thought-out strategy. Strategy means setting the direction for sustained change, defining action plans and accountability timeframes, designing and implementing governance models and making fact-based decisions.

Awareness and education

Education is key to supporting sustained diversity efforts. The aim is to equip employees so they can be inclusive every day by rewiring their behaviours and actions. An important part of this is training the trainers who champion diversity and fostering an inclusive leadership mindset within your company.

Analytics

Even when you’re managing soft factors, the best decisions are based on hard facts. Research-based practice and tailor-made metrics enable you to monitor progress, gain insights into your people and culture and anticipate future changes to build the workforce for your organisation’s future.

Inspiration

Sustained diversity ultimately means inspiring people. We help you to design and implement the various components of an inspirational environment, including actions, events, training, thought leadership, research and publications.

Sustainability regulations and beyond

With European regulations such as CSRD and EU PRD, investing in diversity and inclusion is no longer a ‘nice to have’, but a legal requirement. Our team of experts collaborates with you to ensure your organisation is ready to comply by determining your readiness, gathering the necessary information, setting up your strategy and action plans and helping with their implementation.

As part of our Workforce services, our People and Transformation team works with you to get the best out of your people by putting them at the heart of your organisation. From D&I, workforce strategy and change management to upskilling, employment law and rewards, our consultants combine strategic and business-driven expertise with in-depth knowledge of technology, workforce and HR trends and best practices.
