Synthetic data

An emerging frontier in evidence generation for healthcare decision-making.

High-quality patient data in sufficient quantities is vital for pushing the frontiers of healthcare research. However, low patient populations for rare diseases, GDPR and privacy concerns, and difficulties in enrolling patients mean it’s not always straightforward to collect the needed data.

Synthetic data—artificially generated data that mimics real patient data but doesn’t correspond to real individuals—could be the answer the healthcare industry is looking for. It acts as an amplifier, enhancing existing signals in the training data while tuning out background noise, helping organisations to accelerate their research processes and reduce costs.
