Sale of RAEC Mons

RAEC Mons, a historic Belgian football club founded in 1910, has been acquired by a British consortium led by Mount Pleasant Football Academy (MPFA), a leading Caribbean football organisation. The transaction, completed in August 2025, marks MPFA’s first entry into European football ownership.

The acquisition aligns with MPFA’s strategic objective to establish a direct development pathway for Caribbean players into European leagues, while revitalising RAEC Mons within the Belgian football structure. By integrating RAEC Mons into its network, MPFA gains full control over player development and placement, reducing reliance on third-party arrangements.

How we helped

In close collaboration with PwC Legal, our Corporate Finance team advised the sellers on bringing in new investors to support the long‑term growth of this historic football club.

According to MPFA leadership, the deal strengthens their international footprint and complements existing partnerships, including their collaboration with Charlton Athletic in the UK. This move is expected to create new opportunities for talent development and enhance competitive performance across both regions.
