Koen is a Managing Tax Director and Tax Accounting Services ('TAS') Leader at PwC Belgium.
Koen has extensive experience in tax accounting both for US GAAP as well as IFRS reporting clients. He has throughout the years been involved in the coordination of a variety of cross-border tax accounting projects on respectively acquisitions, (de-) mergers, IPOs, US GAAP conversions, IFRS conversions, tax accounting remediation, …
Koen also coordinates some cross-border outsourcing projects for tax accounting as well as for corporate tax compliance. Koen has a reputation for technical excellence, perseverance and hard work. He leads a team of highly motivated tax accounting professionals who demonstrate eagerness for assisting clients on a daily basis.
Koen is furthermore responsible for Knowledge Sharing at PwC TAS EMEA and is Visiting Professor at Ghent University (Master of Taxation). He also acts as (guest) lecturer at the Universities of Lausanne (Switzerland; Master of Advanced Studies in International Taxation ('MASIT'); Executive Program in Transfer Pricing ('EPTP'), Maastricht (The Netherlands) and Antwerp (Belgium).
Since January 2014, Koen is also a member of PwC Belgium's Tax Technical Committee. This committee of seasoned tax practitioners has the objective to provide tax technical support to the wider PwC Belgium tax practice by developing a common position and review tax technical positions developed by client teams. All these combined experiences help Koen to be a better tax consultant in his daily practice.
Koen has degrees in economics, accounting and tax (Master in Economics, Master in Tax Law, Instructor in Economics, Financial Accounting) and is a Certified Tax Consultant and Accountant at the Belgium Institute for Certified Tax Consultants and Accountants.
He (co) -authored articles and contributed to books on topics such as "Tax Accounting and Mergers and Acquisitions", "Uncertain Tax Positions", "Tax Accounting and Business Reorganization (Transfer Pricing)", "Tax Accounting and Tax Risk Management", "Accounting and Tax Accounting of Intellectual Property".
Koen is a native Dutch speaker and proficient in English and French. He has a basic knowledge of German.
