Géraldine’s main experience resides in the financial services sector. She assists regularly financial institutions to implement or improve their compliance functions, including the governance aspects. Her experience also gives her an in-depth knowledge of the various aspects covered by licensing applications. She manages teams in assessing clients’ policies and procedures and assists clients to prepare their licensing application file or to enhance their internal control environment to comply with applicable regulations.
The involvement of Géraldine as a lead for engagements relating to the assessment of AML and KYC procedures and controls, including the interdependencies with PDS 2 and the authentication requirements, which has allowed her to build in significant practical experience with best practices in the financial services sector in that field.
Géraldine is actively involved in the development of the MiFID requirements and their application for the financial services sector. As the Belgian representative in the PwC MiFID II international network, Géraldine is knowledgeable of recent developments and best practices.
She leads various MiFID engagements through pre- and post-reviews for multiple financial institutions, and through her occasional collaboration with the FSMA (Belgian regulator) on some specific projects in the banking and insurance sectors (AssurMiFID). MiFID II is one of her main focus, together with the regulation related to client’s identification and anti-money laundering issues. She has regular discussions with clients on these topics for advice purposes.
Géraldine has an extensive knowledge of internal controls, amongst others through the application of ISAE 3402 (formerly SAS 70) for major financial institutions. She leads teams in performing internal control reviews across business processes, applications and IT infrastructure components, as well as when providing services to improve security and controls in the financial services industry.
She has experience in conducting audit engagement as External Quality Assessments in the framework of Internal Audit functions, more specifically with regard to compliance topics.
Her native language is French and she has excellent English written and communication skills, as well as a good level of Dutch
