Context

The best way to start securing your network, systems and applications is to understand how your security can be breached.

Main course objectives

  • When you understand how attackers work and think and what tools they use, it's a lot easier to understand how, and more efficient to start, to protect your environment against possible attacks.
    • The purpose of this 3-day course is to show participants how they can secure their environment by informing them about how to attack and hack into a network, systems and applications. By explaining what vulnerabilities can be exploited, demonstrating how it is done and what the outcome is, it is easier to see what the weaknesses are and what countermeasures/security controls are needed (and can be implemented) to improve overall security at your organisation.
  • The course will give you insight into the different steps that are taken, the tools/technologies that are used and the consequences or impact of attacks/vulnerabilities. The course is built around several exercises and cases, allowing you to test the different steps against our training infrastructure.

Main course benefits:

  • Achieve a clear, common knowledge baseline in perimeter security.
  • Get to know the attacker on the other side (know what he does, how he does it, how he thinks, etc.).
  • Get a clear understanding of important security issues/risks/hacking techniques.
  • How to handle the three basic principles of information security: confidentiality, integrity and availability.
  • Discuss perimeter/network security issues.

Target groups

  • ICT staff, system/network administrators and ICT managers.
  • Security staff – who have to guide and guard an infrastructure and network.
  • "Security-side" people who want to get a clear view of those risks and the measures they should take to warrant the security of ICT infrastructure/architectures, like CTOs, CIOs, CISOs, CSOs, project managers, architects, etc.
  • Anyone responsible or involved in ICT and information security.
