Welcome to our first PwC’ Belgium Indian Desk Newsalert

As part of the business community of the Indian Desk in PwC Belgium, we know that India is high on your radar screen. Because sharing of information is of extreme importance in today’s business world, we launched an Indian Desk Newsalert, containing the latest and most important business, tax & regulatory topics in India.

In this first issue, we discuss the following topics:

  • Important regulatory developments that make it easier to work with India
In 2008 and especially the latter half, the world’s business environment has been shaken up. To ensure robust growth, the government has made some noteworthy policy amendments. These changes liberalized the regulatory and investment framework in relation to inbound and outbound investments, making it easier for foreigners to work with India.

  • Round up of critical tax rulings throughout 2008
2008 exposed us to an active judiciary, rendering many landmark rulings on the direct tax front. You will find herein a brief outline of some important rulings and statutory happenings of 2008. During the current year and the years to come, we expect a larger role being played by the judiciary.
